Words, Words, Words from Robert Louis Stevenson

"There is no duty we so underrate as the duty of being happy. By being happy we sow anonymous benefits upon the world." Robert Louis Stevenson

Please share an anonymous benefit sowed on your behalf by someone who was happy. For me, I will never forget the clerk at a McDonald's drive-thru four years ago. I was having a boo-boo day, and her smile was so genuine, so aimed like a laser at me, that it totally changed my mood and lifted me up.

  1. Speaking of McDonald's (which I wouldn't do if my kids were around because they don't need any encouragement), there was a guy who worked the drive-through at a McD's near me who seemed to genuinely love his job, himself, and all of his customers. I always noticed and was very glad when he worked.

He isn't there anymore (dagnabbit), but I'm sure he is spreading verbal sunshine wherever he is now.

  2. A elderly gentleman is a door greeter at our local Wal-Mart. He always has a smile like he truly enjoys his job-makes me smile!!

  3. funny you should mention this, b/c just today i had a return at a "joanne's" fabric store, and the clerk was just as sweet a young woman as could be, it was so refreshing! and the rest of my trip into town was much easier b/c of her sweet disposition! a change from the usual rather sullen teens, bless their little pointed heads! lol!
