Words, Words, Words about the End

"Our Earth is degenerate in these later days; there are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end; bribery and corruption are common; children no longer obey their parents ... and the end of the world is evidently approaching." --Assyrian clay tablet, c. 2800 B.C.

Everything changes and nothing changes.

What do you see as a "sign" of the coming apocalypse? For me, it's e-readers like the Nook and Kindle. Yeah, verily, the world must be coming to an end.

  1. Oh, yeah, indeed. Please give me my "real" book! Maybe these speedy techy advances will move our brains to our thumbs and hands will tap and swoosh instead of create. Woe is me.

  3. I love love love my real books, but I also adore my Kindle. And this week, when I chose not to take my Kindle with me to 5th grade camp, where I went as a chaperone with my daughter, my (lack of) Kindle saved my sanity. When the girls in my cabin were driving me to the brink and I needed a few moments of peace, I was able to find a corner and hop on my cell phone Kindle app and read a few pages of my book in progress. Crisis averted, no sweet children maimed. Success.

  4. My almost 19 year old daughter recently started using "probs" and "totes" instead of "probably" and "totally". She is otherwise a very smart, literate and eloquent young woman. I'm afraid all this texting is ruining the next generation!

  5. I love books best, but the Kindle does come in handy when travelling . . . can take my bible, dictionary, concordance, plus as many books as I want without adding bulk and weight!

Signs of end-times . . . wars, floods, tsunami's, earthquakes, tornados, tough times for women and children.

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” (2 Timothy 4:3) Leave it to the Bible to render this amazingly accurate description of our culture today. Always reminds me that it is late in the day, indeed.
