Today, I am grateful for two years of this blog, for those who have read and still read it, and for the life that has given me so much wonderful stuff to write about. It all started with this post on July 20, 2008.
Today, I am grateful for a sign from Hoover that he is fine and that we will be fine, too. (More on this later.)
Today, I am grateful for slightly cooler weather. I'm trying hard to be content with that and not long for October's crisp temperatures and brilliant blue sky.
Today, I am grateful for the latest installment in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. At the end, Precious Ramotswe sums up the lessons her father taught her. "Do not complain about your life. Do not blame others for things that you have brought upon yourself. Be content with who you are and where you are, and do whatever you can do to bring to others such contentment, and joy, and understanding that you have managed to find yourself." Such good advice, yet sometimes so hard to follow, especially where weather is concerned. It's just so fashionable to complain.
What are you grateful for today?
I love the #1 Ladies Detective Agency! I want someone as wise as that in my life.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for looong time friends. There are 4 of us who have known each other for 38 years..Three of us worked together, the fourth one was added when she was the roomate on the maternity ward with one of us. Three of us were pregnant at the same time..two of us had our babies 8 hours apart! I count each a blessing from God!

"Fashionable to complain" - too true!
ReplyDeleteI actually started my own blog largely because of you. I communicated with you via email and you communicated back, and it was pretty cool. All because of your blog.
So I started my own and now feel like I am more 'in the world' than before. As a SAHM who really stays home, I get isolated pretty easily. But now I can share my nuttiness with the world, though I'm not so sure the world appreciates it as much as I do.
So I am grateful for the internet, for this dinosaur of a computer that I am using, and for you.
I hope I didn't get mushy there. I'm not a big fan of mushy.
Love Precious and her antics, reminds me of time spent in South Africa. I'm grateful for being able to spend some time lately drawing again and for all the experiences that have led to memories in my head and provide me with things to draw!
ReplyDeleteI started that series and somehow got off track with it....need to find my collection and see where I left off
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder!
And what am I grateful for? The fact that I can take my boys to a little hole in the wall museum and have them say "This place has some cool stuff in it!"
