Words, Words, Words for Patriot Day

"That some good can be derived from every event is a better proposition than that everything happens for the best, which it assuredly does not." James K. Feibleman

  1. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to read those words! Yes, yes, yes! Everything does NOT happen for the best, as so many people say.

Good luck to your husband in the triathlon! I'll be eager to read all about it. I'm married to an athlete also (his specialty is tennis, but he's good at everything.)

  2. thank you for this post. i actually came online to show my kids some info about today and help them recall what today is about. (my youngest was just born in 01 when it happened)

i love the words for today...but also for something very close to my family right now...my husbands unexpected layoff. i know so many people are experiencing this and it's horrible effects on your family. however, most people say, "i'm sorry. You'll see, this happened for a reason. everything will be ok." certainly not while you're drowning in it and you're wondering why when you've done everything "right" that this is happening to you. Enough whining...but it is just so close.

this can apply to sooooo many things.

wonderful that you can support your crazy husband. i'll give a little cheer for him from the comfort of my sofa! :)

  3. Shannon, I'm so sorry about your husband...and the hundreds of thousands just like him. I totally agree that this quotation applies to so many areas of life. We get handed bad things in life, and it's our job, I think, to take the bad and make it good however we can. But there's no denying it's bad in the first place. Denial doesn't help at all.

DH found another quotation that is funnier but says much the same thing. "What doesn't kill you may make you stronger, but it really hurts and sucks a lot!"

    Blessings,
    Susan
