Gratitude Journal #222

Today, I am grateful for Martin Luther King, Jr., and people who make a nonviolent stand for freedom and social change everywhere.

Today, I am grateful for these words from Dr. King: "We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies."

Today, I am grateful for a day spent with George, Nick, and Jack doing fun things and loving each other.

Today, I am grateful for another snow day, even if it does interfere with the start of a spiritual gifts study at church. We'll get to it eventually, and I'd rather everyone be safe.

Today, I am grateful for friends who came to dinner Sunday night and for good conversation and good food and well-behaved boys.

Today, I am grateful for bowling. Jack has started training for the Special Olympics bowling tournament, and we went bowling as a family yesterday to help him train.

What are you grateful for today?

  1. Today I am grateful for a wonderful weekend spent with my mom, sister and two cousins. We had a very nice, low pressure weekend with lots of girl talk. It was wonderful down time and so nice to really have time for each other.

Today I am grateful for visit with a friend that is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. We talked, laughed and commiserated about getting older and being women.

Today I am grateful for a husband who gives the best hugs and knows how to give sweet kisses too.

Today I am grateful for the portable heater under my desk. I sit by a window and today it is a cold spot!

  2. Grateful everyday when I walk through the door of my little studio and feeling that sense of home. Grateful that my landlord could look past Annie being a 80 pound dog and allow us to rent. Grateful that I can keep my windows open all night and only hear the birds in the morning. Grateful that my divorce is final even with the on going court battle to divide our funds - grateful there are funds that have to be divided! Most of all having Annie with me to keep me focus on the good things and not what I no longer have.
